September 2022 Newsletter
Welcome to another edition of the Alienor Certification Ltd newsletter. As you will know, we opened a UK office to provide PPE certification services for customers looking to sell their products in the GB market. This bulletin will share some of the exciting things that are going on.
On our way to becoming a UK Approved Body

As in France, accreditation is required to operate as an Approved Body in the UK. Following Brexit, the UK government implemented its own Conformity Assessed (UKCA) Marking scheme for products to be placed on the GB market. During the last few months, we have been putting everything in place to be UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service)-ready. This has focused on demonstrating that the direct operational and technical control is part of the UK office for decision-making purposes. A UKAS pre-assessment, followed by an Internal Audit, carried out by an independent PPE expert, took place in May and July, and identified areas for us to focus on. We had our initial UKAS assessment in late August, and we are delighted to say that we were given a provisional recommendation for accreditation, subject to the closing out of our non-conformities.
For the next 90 days, we will be working exclusively on addressing the findings and presenting UKAS with the evidence. We hope to be granted UKAS accreditation by the end of the year with a full scope. We should then be listed as an Approved Body on the UK Government website shortly after.
News

We will aim to join the British Safety Industry Federation to participate in discussions and debates and be in contact with the latest trends in PPE and standardisation.

In the coming months, we will launch other newsletters to provide regular news, and a website to be visible online and share upcoming news. We have also launched a LinkedIn page, which I encourage you to follow and share posts:

Establishing an Impartiality Committee

Accreditation requires that we set up an independent Impartiality Safeguarding Mechanism Committee. Our first meeting took place in early September, which included representatives from manufacturers, sports academic programmes and consumers.
